Spaying and Neutering

Laurel recommends that you have your pets

spayed and neutered for optimal health

For both dogs and cats, we recommend having the procedure done between 6 and 8 months of age. After doing an exam on your young cat or dog, the doctor will present you with an estimate that goes over all the costs for the procedure. At that time, we can schedule you for the procedure.

Spays, also known as ovariohysterectomies, are performed on female dogs and cats. The procedure is a surgical sterilization that consists of the pet having her ovaries and uterus removed. Neuters, also known as castrations, are performed on male dogs and cats. The procedure is a surgical sterilization that consists of the pet having his testicles removed.

All procedures are performed under anesthesia with our certified veterinary technicians monitoring your pets from the time they arrive at our hospital to the time they go home with you. Pain management medications are used to keep your pet the most comfortable during their stay and when they are recovering at home.
